We are thrilled to share that Beca was named winner of the ‘People First’ category in the prestigious 2024-25 Consult Australia Awards for Excellence!
‘Gender@Beca’ - People First
Announced by Consult Australia at their Gala Awards Dinner on Thursday, 27 March at ICC Sydney, the People First award “recognises firms that have implemented and delivered outstanding initiatives that benefit their people".
Our winning entry focused on our Gender initiatives, including our ‘Gender@Beca’ affinity group, that are helping talented women build thriving careers in a traditionally male-dominated profession.
Reflecting on our achievement Kylie Harris, Head of People & Culture Australia, said “this award is wonderful recognition for the hard work and passion of our fantastic Beca team, including our Gender@Beca team, in supporting talented women to grow their career with us and bring together diverse skillsets and perspectives to solve the complex challenges facing Australia”.
Meanwhile, Kylie Lim - Chair of Gender@Beca said “it's incredibly rewarding to see our efforts recognised both internally and externally… While we've made significant strides, there's still a journey ahead. Let's continue to drive positive change together!”
From our Gender@Beca Action Group to the Killibinbin Sponsorship Program and our Mac.Robertson’s Girl’s STEM Partnership, these initiatives are designed to create a workplace where talented women and gender-diverse individuals can build thriving careers in engineering and consulting.
All this is underpinned by our objective to reach a 40/40/20 gender balance across our business by 2030, compared to the 2024 Australian average of just 14% females employed in engineering. It also closely reflects our purpose to ‘make everyday better’, by bringing together diverse skillsets and perspectives to solve the complex problems Australia faces.
Congratulations to everyone involved, including our fellow 2024-25 Consult Australia Award winners!
