We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Sanchia Jacobs to the new executive role of Chief Sustainability Officer.
With the full range of services delivered across sectors including energy, water, transport, buildings, and industrial, we recognise the importance of delivering value and impact, not just for today, but for generations to come.
Our global business is focused on making a positive difference for clients, communities and our own organisation in three core focus areas:
-
Understanding, preparing for and managing the impacts of climate change,
-
Using innovation and expertise to help accelerate decarbonisation, and
-
Developing pragmatic solutions that value both natural and man-made resources and incorporate ‘whole-of-life’ thinking.
Chief Sustainability Officer Sanchia Jacobs says:
“With more than a century of experience, Beca has made remarkable progress in embedding sustainability into our business practices. We also know that the places and spaces we design and deliver will be here far into the future, in many instances for decades to come.
My appointment signals a continued commitment to aligning our business to deliver solutions for a warming planet and a community need that will change. Through partnership and collaboration with key stakeholders, and listening to communities, we can create positive legacies that deliver long-term benefits for future generations.
I’m excited to be part of a business that embraces this responsibility as part of its mission, and look forward to the continued impact that Beca makes to build resilient communities, both now, and into the future.”
Our CEO Amelia Linzey says:
“Sustainability is integral to our purpose at Beca to ‘Make everyday better’ – including the value we can deliver socially, culturally, environmentally and economically. When your roots are as deep as ours, you understand the importance of all four of these pillars if you want to still be here and delivering impact in another 100 years.”
“This new executive role will sharpen our focus and commitment as we drive to further integrate sustainability principles and thinking into all aspects of our business. Sanchia’s extensive set of skills, experience and relationships across the public and private sector will be invaluable.”
Sanchia has been with Beca for two years, as Local Government Business Director, and as the Chair of our Sustainability Oversight Group. She has also held several executive roles, including five years as a CEO in NZ local government, and has worked internationally in the diplomatic service.
