What an incredible night, celebrating two fantastic achievements for Beca! It was an evening filled with pride, inspiration, and a showcase of our commitment to excellence.
The major highlight of the night was David Carter winning the Outstanding Leadership and Contribution to Infrastructure award. This prestigious award celebrates leaders who have shown exceptional and enduring dedication to advancing practices within the sector. David’s leadership, particularly in the areas of sustainability, mentorship, and cultural competency, is truly inspiring.
Equally exciting was our involvement with Lincoln University's flagship science facility, Waimarie, winning the Excellence in Innovation Award.
This project set a new benchmark in educational infrastructure by seamlessly blending cutting-edge technology with sustainable design principles. Our team at Beca worked passionately as structural engineers on Waimarie, which has now earned its place as a finalist under the Excellence in Innovation category.
Waimarie combines advanced research facilities with environmentally friendly practices, reflecting Lincoln University’s commitment to fostering a culture of sustainability. The building's design promotes energy efficiency, reduced carbon footprint, and enhanced learning environments. We couldn't be prouder of this achievement and the positive impact it has on both the environment and the learning community.
The Infrastructure New Zealand Building Nations 2024 Conference has been a fantastic experience. This year's theme, 'Reshaping New Zealand’s Infrastructure Delivery System,' emphasised the crucial role of external partnerships in unlocking New Zealand's potential. The focus was clear: collaborative efforts between the government and external partners are essential for driving success and innovation in infrastructure delivery.
Thank you to everyone who made these successes possible. We look forward to continuing our journey of collaboration, innovation, and excellence in New Zealand's infrastructure sector.
