Beca has proudly launched our incredible new Melbourne office, bringing us even closer to our valued clients and partners as we strive to make everyday better together.
Our new Melbourne office at Melbourne Quarter Tower (MQT) was officially opened on the evening of Wednesday August 21, with an event hosting many of our valued clients, industry partners, employees and other familiar faces from Beca’s 55-year story in Australia.
Cutting the ribbon for this special occasion was Melbourne Lord Mayor, Councilor Nicholas Reece, with official proceedings including a traditional Māori welcome by T’honi Kapa Haka (acknowledging Beca’s proud Kiwi heritage) and a Welcome to Country ceremony by Djirri Djirri Wurundjeri Women's Dance Group. This follows a moving Smoking Ceremony hosted by local Wurundjeri representative Pallyan at MQT’s Sky Park on Thursday August 8.
The official opening event also marked one month since our 400+ Victorian-based employees moved into Levels 22-23 of Melbourne Quarter Tower on July 24. A huge milestone for our Australian operations, this much anticipated move is designed to bring us closer to our clients, giving us a world-class space in the heart of Melbourne where we can collaborate to make everyday better together. It’s also designed with the goal of enhancing the career development of younger employees by enabling them to work across different areas of our business.
“The work you do, not just here in Melbourne but around the world is really important… engineers are at the forefront of solving some of the world’s biggest challenges (and), we’re going to need engineers more than ever as Melbourne continues to grow as the biggest city in Australia”
Councilor Nicholas Reece, Lord Mayor of Melbourne
Reflecting on our exciting move, Beca Australia Managing Director Andrew Mailer remarked on the evening about the bigger role we’re seeking to play: "This office is a piece of the puzzle (for us) here in Australia. For our clients in the room, we look forward to solving some of your biggest problems, together. What excites me about Beca is our people are excited about the future”!
His words were echoed by Councilor Nicholas Reece who praised Beca as “an amazing New Zealand success story”.
