Beca signs Veteran’s Employment Commitment

Beca is proud to sign the Veteran’s Employment Commitment, a Federal Government initiative that publicly declares our support for providing greater employment opportunities for Australian military veterans.

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) invests considerable resources into training its people to protect and serve our nation. Veterans bring a broad range of specialist skills and experience that are transferable to civilian employers such as Beca.

Across our Trans-Tasman Defence and National Security team Beca employs more than 70 military veterans, amongst a broader team of 110+ professionals. Many of our clients benefit from our veteran employee’s knowledge gained during their service, especially at a time of growing strategic challenges.

"As a Navy Veteran, I have a good appreciation of the qualifications and professional experience service in the ADF provides individuals. I also acknowledge that veterans often downplay these experiences when seeking civilian roles. When I transitioned into my civilian employment with Beca, I found our recruitment process readily accepted and recognised my Naval experience.

After joining, my colleagues willingly provided the mentoring and coaching required to help me integrate into the organisation," said Mick Richardson, Beca’s General Manager – Defence and National Security Australia.

Mick’s words were echoed by our Australian Managing Director and Navy Veteran, Craig Lee, who added, "Beca is a people business and our business success can only be achieved if we have the best and brightest minds working collaboratively with our clients to solve their complex problems. A military career provides an excellent basis for an individual to work for us, and we invest in our peoples’ professional development to help these individuals grow, both inside and outside of the Defence Market".

By signing the Veteran’s Employment Commitment (VEC), we’ve become one of its official supporters, joining other organisations across Australia that are actively harnessing the incredible talents of our ADF veterans.

The VEC is an initiative of the Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Program.
