The INDO PACIFIC 2022 International Maritime Exposition, one of the world’s premier showcases of naval equipment and technology has wrapped up in Sydney, ending a very busy and successful week for Beca’s Defence & National Security team.
Held for the first time since 2019, INDO PACIFIC 2022 which took place at ICC Sydney from 10 -12 May, was a global event that attracted senior defence industry, military and government decision-makers from around the world for a showcase of the latest naval equipment and technology.
And given the cancellation of last year’s event due to COVID restrictions, the energy on the ground at ICC was truly electric. Over the course of three days, 736 exhibiting companies and 115 official defence delegations representing more than 40 nations came together for what was Australia’s largest Defence industry event to date!
INDO PACIFIC 2022 was also a fantastic opportunity for professional services providers to the Defence sector, including Beca, to network with one another and prospective clients in a way only face to face meetings allow.
Throughout the conference, our Defence and National Security (D&NS) business were located at the Investment NSW stand, with Beca proudly represented by members of our Australian D&NS Team and the Beca Applied Technologies team, based in New Zealand.
They were kept very busy showcasing our specialist capabilities and experience in the Defence sector, highlighting the practical ways we're making everyday better for our clients who keep our dynamic and fast-growing region safe. This includes current projects we’re delivering in Australia for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), Security and Estate Group (SEG); and New Zealand’s Defence Force (NZDF) and Ministry of Defence (MoD).
"There was a definite ‘buzz’ around the Conference and the showcase of capabilities supporting the maritime environment was impressive" - Mick Richardson
Reflecting on the week Mick Richardson, General Manager D&NS said “It was an absolute pleasure to be part of one of the first International events after the significant restrictions imposed by the COVID Pandemic. There was a definite ‘buzz’ around the Conference and the showcase of capabilities supporting the maritime environment was impressive”.
Meanwhile David Barter, Business Director D&NS, believed “INDO PACIFIC 2022 achieved its goal of bringing the maritime and defence communities together. And after the past few years of restrictions it was an excellent opportunity for our Trans-Tasman team to spend quality time together and meet with all our key clients”.
Thank you to everyone who attended and the event organisers for a fantastic conference.
