From 7-9 December 2022, Beca in partnership with leading industry training provider Operam Academy, is hosting a three-day in-person “Information Management Bootcamp” at our Auckland headquarters for a range of Kiwi clients.
The purpose of this IM (Information Management) Bootcamp is to equip our clients, who include some of New Zealand’s leading companies, with the skills to effectively request, manage and receive digital information about their built assets. This will help unlock the true value of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and the benefits of managing information in accordance with the ISO 19650 series.
The ISO 19650 series are an international suite of standards that define the business processes for the effective management and collaborative production of built asset information when using BIM.
All our clients attending are extensive users of BIM and digital engineering themselves, and like a number of Beca employees, will also become ISO 19650 Professionals on completion of the Operam Academy IM Bootcamp. This will collectively place us at the forefront of Information Management in New Zealand. These clients include:
- Department of Corrections
- Fonterra
- Jasmax
- Let's Get Wellington Moving
- Waka Kotahi, NZ Transport Agency
Our clients and the broader supply chain share many of the same challenges around increasing construction costs, low productivity, harm and the impacts from climate change. By adopting a standardised and consistent approach to information management, New Zealand will be well-prepared to meet these challenges.
Glenn Jowett – Beca Technical Director, Digital Engineering Advisory says, “When I initially discussed this idea with Paul from Operam, he advised that the IM Bootcamp had never been facilitated with a mixed group of organisations. This presented a unique opportunity to collaborate with our partners and clients to collectively work towards lifting the digital literacy of “NZ Inc.” at a time where the cost of construction is increasing, and the productivity of the sector is an ongoing challenge”.
Also taking place the same week on Monday, 5 December is another Beca-hosted event ‘Digital Engineering Lessons from the UK and Aotearoa’ featuring Paul Shillcock – Managing Director, Operam Academy, and digital engineering industry leaders from across New Zealand.
