Beca is excited to announce their Singapore office has become ISO 19650-2 certified, a global standard that governs the management of information regarding built assets over their entire lifecycle, using BIM (Building Information Modelling) processes.
ISO 19650 is an international standard that defines the collaborative processes for the effective management of information. Specifically, ISO 19650-2 covers the delivery phase of assets when using BIM. This announcement follows news of Beca’s New Zealand and Australian offices achieving certification to this standard earlier in February.Glenn Jowett, Beca Technical Director – Digital Engineering Advisory led the certification process. He says, “The addition of our Singapore business to our certification so soon after our ANZ offices achieved the same milestone cements our position as a leader in BIM across the Asia Pacific. It allows us to respond to ever increasing requirements from clients to deliver projects in accordance with the standard. It provides a platform for us to reduce time lost through rework and duplication of effort, and it allows us to effectively manage BIM risks.
For our design teams and downstream users of digital information, the goal is to help increase predictability around cost and time through a common approach to the management of information.”
Achieving this certification is the result of extraordinary efforts from Beca’s Singapore team who had been preparing for the certification process with Bureau Veritas since March. In addition to Beca’s passion and commitment, the auditor also complimented Beca on their:
- practical approach to system implementation
- audit preparedness and proactive approach
- passionate and motivated people
- a high level of BIM awareness and implementation
- top management commitment.
Kam Weng Yuen - Business Director in Beca’s Singapore building’s team adds, “The ISO-19650 certification demonstrates our commitment to technical and project delivery using globally recognised standards in Singapore and wider the ASEAN region”.
This standard is formally known as ISO 19650-2:2018: ‘Organization and digitization of information about buildings and civil engineering works, including building information modelling (BIM) — Information management using building information modelling: Delivery phase of the assets’.
