Beca is excited to announce our sponsorship of the 15th Climate Change and Business Conference, to be held at the Viaduct Events Centre in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland on 19-20 September.
Organised by the Sustainable Business Council, Environmental Defence Society, and Climate Leaders Coalition, the influential conference brings together representatives from across the public and private sectors, under this year's theme of "Delivering Net Zero."
The comprehensive programme will explore the leadership, collaboration, and innovative thinking needed to accelerate decarbonisation and enhance adaptation and resilience to the impacts of climate change.
On day two, John Blyth, the leader of our Māori Advisory Group Te Ahi Tūtata, is taking part in what is set to be an engaging panel discussion on ‘Acting now on adaptation’, delving into adaptation strategy and the question of ‘who pays’? Other great panellists include Bryce Davies, IAG New Zealand; James Palmer, Ministry for the Environment | Manatū mō te Taiao; Olaf Adam, Westpac New Zealand and Raewyn Peart, Environmental Defence Society.
The final plenary session of the conference will be facilitated by Amelia Linzey, Beca Advisory Group Director and our incoming CEO. With a line-up of distinguished panellists, Amelia will explore lifting the bar on leadership for the future. Panellists Lisa Davis, CEO - Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei; Izzy Fenwick, from Fenwick Group; Malcolm Johns, CEO - Genesis Energy; Rod Carr, Chairperson - Climate Change Commission and Teressa Betty - CEO | Kaiwhakahaere Matua, Toitū Envirocare, will share their thoughts and observations heard over the conference, in what promises to be a thoughtful discussion on what it takes to drive transformative change.
"With sustainability at the heart of what we do at Beca, we are thrilled to support and be involved with the Climate Change and Business Conference," says Amelia Linzey.
"The Conference aligns closely with our own core values and commitment to respond to climate change challenges. We are focused on creating positive legacies in our work alongside our clients and communities to support decarbonisation, and strengthening our adaptation and resilience to the climate changes we are already facing,” Amelia adds.
