The environmentally sustainable Marina One mixed-use development in Singapore’s CBD has a hidden heart of green - a lush tropical garden.
Marina One goes above and beyond the tough Green Mark requirements relating to sustainable construction and energy savings. Enter the mixed-use development of two 30-storey blocks of offices and two 34-storey blocks of luxury residences on top of a four-storey retail block, and you’ll find a lush tropical biodiversity garden.
The complex is built around this garden with its extensive plants, water features and walkways. Balconies, podium terraces and roof gardens are also integrated into the building.
Energy efficiency features include the use of LED lights controlled by motion sensors, advanced air handling units and rainwater harvesting. With the residential blocks, we carried out an extensive Computational Fluid Dynamics study. This meant we could discover the best building orientation and design around this to take advantage of natural ventilation in the residences.
To help bring this iconic development to life, we provided engineering design (mechanical and electrical, civil and structural, fire), and environmental sustainable design consultancy.
