We are thrilled to highlight our latest collaboration with Prony Resources New Caledonia on the groundbreaking Beneficiation Project.

Situated in the heart of one of the world's top nickel-producing locations, this project is focused on enhancing the nickel to magnesium ratio supplied to the high pressure acid leaching (HPAL) process, thereby boosting production efficiency in the HPAL circuit and the downstream processes.

Starting 2021, the Beneficiation Project encompasses a series of wet and dry ore beneficiation processes. By late 2023 and into early 2024, Prony celebrated the successful completion of the wet ore processing plant construction, marking a significant milestone in the project's timeline. This involved a novel and expandable approach to removal of lower grade materials prior to milling to optimise grind size and power and boost the Nickel grade relative to the acid consuming species in the ore.

Beca was instrumental in driving the project forward, starting from specifying and interpreting metallurgical testwork alongside Prony and their technical experts. Our extractive metallurgy and mineral processing expertise shone through as we executed the engineering from concept design to detailed design of the plant with the Prony Resources project leadership. This included process engineering with robust flowsheet and mass balance development, hydraulic modelling, equipment specification and evaluation, and full suite of design work spanning; civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and piping disciplines.

Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the Beneficiation Project not only meets but surpasses expectations. Through this partnership, Beca reinforces its commitment to fostering innovation, embracing sustainable practices, and pushing the boundaries of nickel production alongside Prony Resources New Caledonia. Together, we're setting new benchmarks in the industry.
