For over 60 years, SP Brewery has produced Papua New Guinea’s favourite beers. To keep it going for many more, it needed major site upgrades.
From an initial commission to develop a project data book to support SP Brewery's major site upgrades over five years, came the first stage of a capital works programme across the Port Moresby and Lae sites.
The upgrades involved building works (like new Brewhouse’s and new warehouses for both sites, and a packaging hall extension at Lae), site services capacity upgrades (such as major power and refrigeration upgrades), major upgrades to bottling lines, plus the installation of 12 fermenter tanks and six bright beer tanks across both sites and associated process piping, electrical and controls.
To keep SP Brewery brewing, we provided project management services and site contract administration. Negotiating and awarding major vendor contracts at Heineken’s head office in Zoeterwoude (the Netherlands) was achieved through working closely with the SP Brewery team and Heineken.
Successfully coordinating these international vendors and local construction companies, plus managing the installation programme, was key to delivering the project on budget.
