Clarity and compliance around trade waste obligations

Airservices Australia has a massive commitment, not only to keep Australia’s airspace and airports safe, but to ensure operations are carried out in an environmentally-responsible way.

To keep that commitment, Airservices sought to monitor and, where necessary, improve compliance with trade waste obligations at serviced airports across Australia. Their overall aim is to achieve full compliance, at all times, with health, safety, and environmental obligations.

It wasn’t a small task. All of Airservices’ national footprint needed to be serviced, from Karratha to Hamilton Island. Our scope included sampling of wastewater generated by multiple sources, testing, and reporting, with an outcomes focus. By completing a value management review of the scope, we identified a risk-based approach to sampling which delivered $300,000 savings to Airservices. 

Using a small team meant we could ensure consistency in our technical approach and reporting. Although our team need to travel extensively to the different sites, we were able to develop strong relationships with the Airservices team and respond quickly to queries.

Now, Airservices Australia has much greater clarity and ongoing compliance in meeting their trade waste obligations.
